Applying SEO and Internet marketing techniques for a new site

My previous articles have covered small individual aspects of what's required to build an Internet business, from search engine optimisation techniques to affiliate marketing. Now I have the opportunity to demonstrate the end-to-end process involved in launching and sustaining a new website.

Following the success of my recent Photography-Courses.com.au website, I'm about to launch Photography-Tours.com.au. This is for the promotion of photography-based tours and holidays offered by Australian operators. I.e. the tours themselves can be international.

The way the site works is that the operators register and add details of their tours; I then use my Internet marketing skills to drive traffic to the site and generate enquiries for the operators. Ultimately, I'll charge a commission for each booking or a set monthly fee to appear on the site, but I think it's important to demonstrate value before asking for money.

So, here's an overview of what I'm going to do:

  1. Create the site (done...www.photography-tours.com.au)
  2. Contact photography tour operators and introduce the concept
  3. Contact potential affiliates and introduce the concept

The first step of creating the site was fairly easy as it's just an adaptation of the photography courses website. This also gave me access to a list of 30+ photography schools that may also run tours, so that's been the first point of contact for getting the site content I need to make the site attractive to visitors and search engines.

I've also contacted a number of other photography tour operators and asked them if they'd be interested in signing up.

The final step, adding affiliates, will only happen once I have something to offer.

  • Current operators: 0
  • Current affiliates: 0

Have your say...
